Let’s say that you want to perform an ergonomic assessment of a job, but you have never done one before.  Where can you go to find a simple, but good, ergonomic assessment tool (or form) that you can use?

Federal OSHA has three industry specific “Guidance Publications” on ergonomics.  They have been developed for grocery stores, nursing homes, and poultry processors.   Each document offers easy to use assessment methods and forms that can be used by employers in these industries.  These free, downloadable publications can be found here.

Finally, Great Britain’s version of OSHA (called HSE) has a website that also has some excellent ergonomic assessment tools.  These tools are more sophisticated than those from OSHA or Washington.  You can view and download the British ergonomic forms and guidance documents at –  http://www.hse.gov.uk/msd/
