Germs In The Workplace

Best Choice Reviews has an interesting info-graphic entitled “Office Germs: Safe For Work?”. It reviews common sources of germs in the typical office and offers some office hygiene tips.
It’s hard to know just how many days are lost from work due to poor office hygiene, but I’m sure that some sicknesses each year are probably caused by these factors.
Of even greater importance to “office” hygiene is “factory” hygiene! These same hygiene exposures and controls also apply in the factory environment. In my career I’ve seen many horrible examples of factory hygiene, including:
- unsanitary lockers, lunchrooms, and restrooms
- uncontrolled birds, mice and rats
- spitting on the floor and elsewhere
- uncontrolled disposal of bio-waste
- filthy or shared PPE
