April 7, 2014 No CommentsBelow is this week’s “Safety App of the Week“. Every Monday we publish an article that reviews and rates a new workplace safety app. Our testing is done on Apple iPads and Samsung Galaxy Tab 3s. We rate each app from ♥ to ♥♥♥♥♥ (♥♥♥♥♥ is the best). Prior app of the week articles are archived here.

Official Description
“This app can be used to alert others of safety concerns. Send/receive messages specifying GPS coordinates and location information. Not intended for use in emergency situations. Calling 911 is more appropriate for emergency situations. The app has features of Extended type version. (E-Type).“1
Thumbs Up
- cost is free
- no registration or sign in required
- the senders’ GPS location is automatically included in the email alert message
- intended for single employee work sites
- email contact addresses are automatically imported from your MS Outlook contacts list
- can attach photos to the email
Thumbs Down
- no instructions
- the person who receives your email alert message needs to have special software (i.e. the CMTM-Reader) in order to read your email alert
- it is so much quicker and easier just to call, text, or email your message
- the only reason we’d ever use this app is if we needed to have the senders’ GPS location embedded in the message
Overall Rating
- iPad / iPhone – the developers’ website claims this app is currently available for Apple devices, but we found that it is no longer available in the Apple Apps Store
- Android – ♥♥
