Below is this week’s “Safety App of the Week“.  Every Monday we publish an article that reviews and rates a new workplace safety app.  Our testing is done on Apple iPads and Samsung Galaxy Tab 3s.  We rate each app from ♥ to ♥♥♥♥♥ (♥♥♥♥♥ is the best).  Prior app of the week articles are archived here.

Thumbs Up

• cost is free
• no registration or sign in required 
• visually exciting
• well-organized, intuitive navigation, no instructions needed
• huge selection of articles
• our favorite section is “EHS Latest News”
• most features work off-line (although you will need an Internet connection to watch their pre-recorded webinars)

Thumbs Down

• many of the articles have nothing to do with workplace safety and health (e.g. recycling plastic bags, Wal-Mart’s low wages, how do you spend your free time, thank a police officer today, etc.)
• no site search capability
• no hot-links to related on-line resources
• not a peer-reviewed technical safety publication like the ASSE’s Professional Safety Magazine

Overall Rating

• iPad/iPhone  – ♥♥♥♥
• Android  –  ♥♥♥♥
• Overall, a beautiful looking app with lots of free content (although some of the content is unrelated to workplace safety)
