Safety App Of Week

March 17, 2014 No Comments

Below is this week’s “Safety App of the Week“.  Every Monday we publish an article that reviews and rates a new workplace safety app.  Our testing is done on Apple iPads and Samsung Galaxy Tab 3s.  We rate each app from to ♥♥♥♥♥ (♥♥♥♥♥ is the best).  Prior app of the week articles are archived here.

Workplace safety audits, pre-start checks and inspections are faster and easier with Safety Audit Pro.  For years, many of us have tried to reduce the amount of paper used in the auditing process and today it has become a reality with the introduction of Safety Audit Pro.

Thumbs Up

  • cost is only $4.99
  • simple registration is required
  • good instructional videos
  • add photographs to the inspection report
  • email completed reports as PDF files

Thumbs Down

  • needs more visual appeal – no photos or graphics
  • provides only 3 pre-made checklists (their main competition has over 20,000 pre-made checklists)
  • their 3 pre-made checklists are based upon Canadian safety regulations – not applicable to USA users
  • some of the checklist questions do not make sense (e.g. “wash toilet”, “empty drums”, “lunch area”, and “supports”?) and these poorly worded questions can not be modified
  • some of the checklist questions are “cut off” and you can not read the entire question
  • creating your own custom checklist is time-consuming
  • others at your company will not be able to use a checklist you develop because there is no “cloud” capability
  • “for a reasonable fee” you can add your own checklists (we’re always suspicious of charges that are not clearly defined)

Overall Rating

  • iPad – ♥♥
  • iPhone – not available
  • Android  – not available
  • We greatly prefer the iAuditor app to this one
